How does the Annual Portfolio Evaluation process work for home school students?

We understand that each home school curriculum is the choice of the parent and caters to the specific needs of the child or children involved.  Therefore, we take pride in our ability to work with parents to understand their goals and to determine the progression of students, based on the student’s individual abilities and grade level.  Upon registration, registrants are emailed an easy to read information sheet that briefly reviews Florida Home School requirements and our streamlined and non-cumbersome process for reviewing work samples.  At that time, clients are also assigned a certified teacher who will contact them by phone or email to schedule a specific time and date for the student discussion conference.  On the conference date, the student and parents accesses the teacher’s virtual office online (it only takes a few seconds to do this) and by phone by dialing in to a dedicated conference line for student/teacher discussion and review of material submitted. Note: In the few instances where a student does not have internet access, the evaluation discussion is done entirely over the phone.

What concepts are covered in Math?

Our programs strengthen mathematical and algebraic skills from Basic Math (Number Concepts, Whole Numbers, Decimals, Fractions, Percents, Graphs and Problem Solving) to Intermediate Math (Computation, Word Problems, Measurement and Geometry) and Algebraic concepts (Equations, Inequalities, Factoring, Expressions, Polynominals, etc.)

What concepts are covered in Science?

Our program covers instruction of basic science concepts to Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science and is able to expand on the basics by building practical knowledge in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

How are student progress and results tracked?

Our educational programs work because we engage in initial diagnostic practices to identify gaps, prescribe instruction and then test for mastery of a subject.  Lessons are correlated to state standards and customized to instructional needs.  Real time progress reports streamline the learning process and document results for educational consultants and parents.
